TRENARY, MI - George Joseph Webber, age 88, of N 475 Gregg Road, Rapid River (Trenary), passed away peacefully at home on Christmas morning, December 25, 2010. George was born August 30, 1922 in Munising, MI the son of Joseph and Anna (Colligan) Webber. He was raised on the family farm in Trenary and graduated from the Trenary High School. George lived on the family dairy farm all his life of which he has passed on to his sons. He was passionate about his profession and he prided himself in the fact that he didn't miss milking his cows for 16 years straight. George enjoyed telling stories about the old times spent logging and farming with horses, and remembered riding to school in a horse drawn school bus. His hobbies included four wheeling and snowmobiling and he was very passionate about his four-wheeler group, which rode every Wednesday. George had a love for horse pulling contests and he attended Champion Horse Pulling for over 50 years. He treasured his dog Susie, and he loved showing all who visited the special tricks he taught her. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, who brought him a special source of joy. George remained active until recently. George was united in marriage to the former Pauline Gamache on October 1, 1946 at the St. Rita's Church in Trenary. They were married 61 years until her death on April 21, 2008. 2 brothers, Ralph and John and his sister, Irene Zuroski, also preceded him in death. Survivors include: 7 children: Pamela (James) Coppock of Iron Mountain, MI; Robert J. (Karlene) Webber of Trenary; Paulette (Nick) Boravich of Trenary; Karen (Leroy) Ruska of Trenary; Sandra (Larry) Reeb of DePere, WI; Jeanne (Pat) Conine of Porterfield, WI; Gerald T. (Pamela) Webber of Trenary; 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and numerous step grandchildren, nieces and nephews; Sister-in-law: Pauline M. Webber of Trenary ; Special dog: Susie. The family of George J. Webber will receive friends on Thursday December 30, 2010 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at the St. Rita's Church in Trenary. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 PM on Thursday at St. Rita Church with Rev. Fr. Jacek Wtyklo officiating. Burial will follow at the Trenary Cemetery and luncheon will be served following the graveside services.
