PASTOR MICHAEL ?MIKE? EDWARD FONTAINE
DECEMBER 2, 1947 ? NOVEMBER 3, 2014
Pastor Michael ?Mike? Edward Fontaine 66 of Harrison went to be with his Lord on Monday, November 3, 2014 after a valiant fight with brain cancer. Michael was born December 2, 1947 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Edward Joseph and Helene Clare (Rotta) Fontaine. On June 15, 1984, Michael was united in marriage to the former Florence Darlene Anderson in Westminster, Maryland.
Mr. Fontaine had resided in Harrison since 2001, coming from Newberry, Michigan. He was a member of the Houghton Baptist Church while living in Lake Linden, Michigan. Mike was a graduate of Suomi College. He later moved to Newberry where he was ordained and pastored for seven years. Michael then moved to Harrison where he served pastoring and teaching the Word of God. Pastor Mike was very appreciative of all the wonderful people he met while serving the Lord.
Michael worked in many areas; sales representative in radio, television, and also was the owner of Bonded Satellite of Gladwin. Mike was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting and sawing wood. He was mechanically inclined, repairing most anything.
Surviving Mr. Fontaine is his loving wife of thirty years, Mrs. Florence D. Fontaine of Harrison, one daughter, Donna Koivu and husband Jim of Calumet, Michigan, one son, Jesse Fontaine and wife Linda of Lake Linden, two step-daughters: Laura LaRoux and husband Rodney of Gay, Michigan and Christine Gamache of Hubbell, Michigan, one step-son, Dean Gamache and wife Lisa of Ohio, four grandchildren that Michael and Florence raised: Bradley Brandenburg and fiancé Marissa Smith, Johnathon Brandenburg and wife Mindy, Carolyn Bruner and husband Jared and Amanda Brandenburg and fiancé Brenden Taylor, many other grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, one sister, Gail Plute and husband David of New Allouez, Michigan, one brother, Douglas Fontaine of Lake Linden, plus many nieces and nephews. Mr. Fontaine was preceded in death by his mother and two children: Wanda Brandenburg and Bobby Joe Fontaine. The Fontaine family would like to thank Dr. Kahn, Grace Hospice and the many others who gave Michael his quality of life.
Funeral services for Pastor Mike will be held Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison. Visitation will be held Friday, November 7, 2014 from 4:30-8:00 p.m. at Stocking Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Pleasant Plains Cemetery, Harrison. Because of Michaels great love of the Word of God and his family, memorial gifts in memory of Pastor Mike may be given to Cedar River Chapel, Community Baptist Church or to your favorite cancer fund.
