Beatrice C. Stillwell, 100, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, in the Elim Care Center, Fargo.
Beatrice Cora Stillwell was born on May 17, 1907, to Orin Wesley and Mable (Lamb) Stillwell in Rhinelander, Wisc. At the age of 3, she moved with her parents to McKenzie County N.D. She attended rural schools and graduated from high school at Watford City, N.D. She attended Minot State Teachers College and Dickinson State Teachers College. She taught school in McKenzie County until 1934. She was employed as a case worker by a Relief Agency at Watford City and later became director of Social Services for the Sioux Indians in Rolette County, N.D. She bought a Ladies Style Shop in Lisbon, N.D., and operated it from 1945 until her retirement in 1975.
Beatrice was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Fargo.
She moved to Wahpeton, N.D., and Fargo, N.D., after her retirement. She moved to Elim Care Center in April of 2000.
Beatrice is survived by her sisters-in-law, Donna Stillwell, Moorhead, Minn., and Kay Stillwell, Williston, N.D., and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Carl, Roland, Lester, Wayne, and LaMoine; and sister, Leona Gamache.
A memorial service was held on Friday, May 9, 2008, at the Elim Care Center, Fargo, N.D. Burial will be at Shafer Cemetery, Watford City, N.D., at a later date.
