MASSE, BERTRAND G., 80, of Hunts Avenue, Pawtucket, died Tuesday at the Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Lucille (Lussier) Masse. They had celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary last year. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, a son of the late Eustache and Lumina (Gamache) Masse, he had been a resident of Pawtucket since early childhood. He had been the organist and choirmaster at St. Cecilia Church in Pawtucket for the past thirty-nine years. Previously, he had served in the same capacity at St. Joseph Church in Central Falls and at St. Jean de Baptiste Church in Pawtucket. He was an avid bridge player and a member of the East Side Bridge Club in Providence. For over fifty-years he had given lessons in voice, piano and organ music. Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons, Claude Masse of Rocky Hill, Connecticut, Paul Masse of Exeter, Guy Masse of Pawtucket and Pierre Masse of Warwick, two daughters, Nicole Higginbotham of Warwick and Renee Masse of Pawtucket and ten grandchildren: Colin, Patrick, Molly, Michael, Robert, Michelle, Julie, Theresa, John-Bertrand, and Martha, also two brothers, Bernard Masse of Cumberland and Rene Masse of Attleboro and three sisters, Claire Gousie of Pawtucket, Jacqueline Bleyer of North Smithfield and Gertrude Robert of Worcester. The funeral will be held Saturday at 9:00 A.M. from the Darlington Mortuary of L. Heroux & Son, 1042 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in St. Cecilia Church, Central Avenue, Pawtucket. Calling hours in the funeral home will be Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.
