Gamache, George Joseph Elie - With heavy hearts the family announces the death of Mr George Gamache at the age of 79 years. Mr Gamache passed away peacefully at the Temiskaming Hospital on Monday May 19, 2014 with his loving family by his side.
Mr Gamache was born July 17, 1934 at Lorrainville to the late Wilfred Gamache and to the late Raymonde Lapierre. George will be remembered by many as owner and operator of a service station in Cobalt, and two service stations in Haileybury. He also operated a tow truck company in Cobalt for may years. In his spare time and after his retirement, George loved to head out on Lake Temiskaming to his favorite fishing hole and land the big prizes. He was a member of the Chevalier de Colomb #1398 Fatima and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 54 Haileybury.
Predeceased by his parents; his twin infant daughters and his daughter Doris Gamache. George is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Clotilde Levesque; his children Francine [Keith], Yves [Joanne], Jacques [Barb], Danielle, Josée [Darry], Mario [Jennifer]. Cherished grandfather of Natalie, Jacob, Jeremy, Jessica, MacKenzie, Alexa, Ryan; great grandfather of Victoria, Brayden, Tristan and Marie-Lou. Also surviving is his sister Andréa [Carl], his brother André [Huguette] as well as many nieces nephews and extended family members.
The Gamache family will welcome friends at the Buffam Leveille Funeral Home on Thursday May 22nd, 2014 from 7:00 - 9:00pm and again on Friday May 23rd, 2014 beginning at 9:30am. Memorial mass will be celebrated from Holy Cross Catholic Church on Friday May 23rd at 11:00am. Father Alexis O'Lenga officiating. Interment will follow at the Haileybury Catholic Cemetery.
