Seabrook, NH ? Hollis Donald Grant, Jr., age 75, of Seabrook, NH, died early Monday morning, June 25, 2012 at the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Perry, Maine, August 3, 1936, he was the son of the late Hollis D. Grant, Sr. and Eppie (McCready) Grant.
For many years Hollis owned his own business, Grant?s Tree Service and had also worked at Graf Brothers in Salisbury.
Actively involved with several of the Masonic Lodges in the 11th Masonic District of Massachusetts, St. John?s Lodge of Newburyport being his home Lodge, where he served as Master from 1993 to 1994 and Warren Lodge of Amesbury, where he was Master from 1997 to 1998, he was also a member of Bethany Lodge of Merrimac and Charles C. Dame Lodge of Georgetown. Additionally, he was a longtime member of Friendship Chapter No. 58, Order of Eastern Star of Amesbury, having served as Worthy Patron in 1991 and eight additional one-year terms over the next twenty-one years, with his most recent years being 2010 and 2011.
He is survived by two sons and four daughters, Hollis D. Grant, III of Salisbury; Heath F. Grant and wife Melissa of Haverhill; Hollie B. Streil and husband John of Newbury; Heidi M. Grant of Newbury; Heather A. Grant and Arthur Gamache of Rowley; and Hope A. Grant of Newbury; ten grandchildren, Jillian A., Nikolaus R. and Alexander N. Streil all of Newbury; Robert and Brandon Grant, both of Salisbury; Michael Hanson and Kasaundra Gentile of Newbury; Ayden and Lydia Grant and Felicia McCarthy all of Haverhill; twin great-grandsons, Carter Evan Grant and Gavin Vincent Grant; his sister, Eppie L. Adams of Manchester, NH, along with several generations of nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to attend masonic services conducted by Bethany Lodge on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 3:30 P. M. at the Masonic Temple, 31 Green Street, Newburyport, followed by Eastern Star services by the officers of Friendship Chapter. Calling hours will continue until 7 p.m. Interment in Eastport, Maine will be private for the family. Kindly omit flowers; instead, donations in his memory may be made to the Hollis D. Grant, Jr., Scholarship Fund, C/O Bethany Lodge, 31 Green Street, Newburyport, MA 01950.
