YAKIMA - John Anton Paul passed away October 30, 2008, surrounded by his family at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. He was 82.
John was born August 8, 1926 in Wapato, WA to Hattie (Huston) Paul and Tom Paul.
When John came home from the Army, he then graduated from Yakima Sr. High in 1947. He was heavily involved in the VFW in Yakima for many years. One of his favorite hobbies was making and giving away homemade sauerkraut, which is a Paul family tradition that will carried out by his son and grandsons. He was frequently kidded about and referred to as Pope John Paul. John was a proud member of Yakima's Compass Lodge 24 and became a Master Mason. John owned Paul's Auto Service at the corner of 19th and Nob Hill for many years.
He is survived by his sister, Betty Gamache; son, Steve (Cindy) Paul; daughter, Vickie (Dale) Williams; step-children, Mike (Rose) Meyer, Sharon (Bob) Brown, Brad (Barb) Sears, Paula (Dan) Regeimbal and Rob (Crystal) Sears; grandsons, Travis and Tyson Paul; niece Robin Gamache and nephew, Denne Gamache; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death recently by his wife of seventeen years, Florene Meyer Paul, and a daughter, Leeann Paul.
Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2008 at Keith & Keith 9th Ave Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to VFW Post 379. To share a memory of John, visit www.mem.com. Cremation arrangements are in the care of Keith & Keith Funeral Home.
