GOFFSTOWN ? Arthur H. Gamache, 82, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at the Arbors of Bedford. Born in Manchester on Feb. 12, 1922, he was the son of Apolinaire and Rose (Pettigrew)Gamache. He was raised in Manchester and was educated in Manchester as well as Canada. Mr. Gamache studied languages at Georgetown University and also attended the University of Hawaii. He received a bachelor of arts degree in economics from the University of New Hampshire in 1947. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II as a member of the 401st Counterintelligence Corps. He was a language specialist in the European Theater, had specialized training in speaking German, and also taught languages to other soldiers. Mr. Gamache was a self-employed contractor and was involved in both the development and sale of real estate. He was a resident of Goffstown for the past 49 years. He was pre-deceased by four brothers, Maurice, John, Gaston and Roger Gamache, and one sister, Sr. Marcel Gamache. Family members include his wife of 49 years, Gertrude (Toussaint) Gamache; one daughter, Camille Gamache of Goffstown; three brothers, Betrand Gamache of Manchester, RichardGamache of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Phillippe Gamache of Manchester; five sisters, Antoinette Dupont, Ghislaine Compagna, Simone Gregoire, Jeanne Gilbert and Sr. YvetteGamache, Presentation of Mary, all of Manchester; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 6, at French and Rising Funeral Home, 17 S. Mast St., Goffstown. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 7, at St. Lawrence Church. Burial will follow in Westlawn Cemetery.
