FALL RIVER -- Sister M. d'Aquin (M. Aquinas), formerly Claire Gamache, of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, 97, of Park Street, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at St. Anne's Hospital. She was born in Fall River, daughter of the late Ferdinand and Angelina (Michaud) Gamache. Sister d'Aquin entered the Dominican Order on Aug. 4, 1919, She professed her first vows in August 1921 and her final vows on Aug. 4, 1925 at St. Anne's Church. She attended St. Catherine's Novitiate High School and Sacred Heart's, then St. Michael's College in Winooski, Vt., and Providence College in Providence. Her teaching assignments spanned some 50 years. She taught at St. Anne's School and Dominican Academy in Fall River, St. Francis Xavier School in Acushnet and D'Youville Academy in Plattsburg, N.Y. After her teaching career, she served as assistant infirmarian, assistant sacristan, and portress at Dominican Academy Survivors include three nieces. She was the sister of the late Irene Fisette and Armand Gamache. Arrangements under the direction of the Boule Funeral Home, 615 Broadway.
