Deceased Name: Maurice Ellwyn Gamache 'Joe'
ST. ALBANS TOWN - Maurice Ellwyn Gamache, "Joe," a lifelong St. Albans Town resident, died early Monday morning, Sept. 8, 2008, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Joe was born 63 years ago in the same home where he passed on. He was an avid hunter, especially bow and turkey hunting, and was a farmer all of his life. Joe was famous for gardening and sharing what he grew. He was also a collector of many things, including old marbles and hunting rifles. He was a man of simple needs and enjoyed life on the farm raising heifers. He was a very giving brother and friend and will be greatly missed.
Joe was the son of the late Ferdinand and Lydia (Bohannon) Gamache. He leaves eight brothers and sisters: Ferdinand Gamache and his wife, Joyce, Edmond and his wife, Gail, Joan and husband, Paul Roy, Richard and wife, Linda, Debra Whitney, Janice and husband, Jim Eaton, Betty Ann Gamache, and Rebecca Gamache; a brother-in-law, Frederick Fortune; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his parents, Joe was also predeceased by his sister, Jeannette Fortune, in January of 2008; a brother, Raymond Gamache; brother-in-law, Carlton Whitney; and a very close and special friend, Rejean Lussier.
Joe's family would like to thank the Franklin County Home Health Agency for all of their excellent care, with special thanks to Gwen, one of Joe's special caregivers.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at 11 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. Mr. Theodore Yandow, a longtime family friend, will officiate. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Gamache family lot in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swanton. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 7 to 9.
