Morton Shapiro was Co-owner of delicatessen, retired banker
Services for Morton jack Shapiro, 70, Indianapolis, a retired banker and businessman will be at 2 p.m. June 9 in Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation, of which he was a member. Burial will be in Indianapolis Hebrew Cemetery South.
He died June 5.
Before retiring, Mr. Shapiro was an investment banker and a partner in Goelzer and Co. for more than 30 years. He also was a partner with his son Brian Shapiro , who survives, in Shapiro?s Delicatessen.
Prior to being an investment banker, he owned and operated 22 liquor stores in central Indiana.
A 1950 summa cum laude graduate of Indiana University, he was a member and past president of Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity and a member of Beta Gamma Sigma honorary business fraternity.
He also was a talent scout for IU basketball coach Branch McCracken for many years.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
