Phyllis P. Koziol 1926 - 2017
NEW YORK MILLS - Phyllis P. Koziol, 90, died on January 22, 2017, at St. Luke's Home.
She was born October 28, 1926, in Utica, daughter of the late Joseph and Nellie Gagulia Koziol. She received her education at Holy Trinity School, on Lincoln Ave., in Utica. When she reached working age, Phyllis worked at Robert Gear for twelve years and then worked at Mohawk Containers for 42 years until her retirement.
Phyllis was a very social person. She was always interested in fashion and had a kind word for everyone about their appearance and their nature. She enjoyed dining out and also enjoyed her summer vacations with family at Nick's Lake in Old Forge. If it could be done her way, she would love to end the day with a cocktail.
The last of her siblings, she was predeceased by Julia Sokolowski, Jessie Mammone, Laura Kraft, Jean Gamache, Olga Ciecko, Frank Koziol, John Koziol and Charlie Koziol. She was also predeceased by her two nephews, Robert Gamache and Eric Sokolowski.
She is survived by several nieces, Patty Zabinski, Ormond Beach, FL, Barbara Veronneau, Ormond Beach, FL, Linda Cavalier, Utica, Betty Shaver, Flagler Beach, FL, Joyce Grygiel, Scotia, Gail Hiffa, Duxbury, MA, Celeste Pytyko, Utica; and two nephews, Dennis Ciecko, Santa Rosa, CA and Thomas Gamache, Perryville, MD.
Our family wishes to especially thank one of the many angels at St. Luke's Nursing Home, Shelly Gromling, along with Lisa Anweiler, NP, and the entire staff of the St. Luke's Home. Everyone there is a caregiver in their special way with patience, smiles and perseverence. Our family would also like to thank Dr. Daniel Goodman for his long continued concern and care for our entire family. Thank you.
A Memorial Mass, celebrating Phyllis' life, will be at the St. Luke's Nursing Home on Monday, July 17 at 10:30 a.m. Private burial will be in the family plot at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
