  [S5] Obituary. Daily Mining Gazette May 25, 2004 Robert J. King ONTONAGON ? Robert J. King, 83, of Ontonagon, former resident of Hubbell, passed away on May 23, 2004, at the Ontonagon Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 15, 1921, a son of Clifford and Clara (Provost) King. He attended St. Cecilia School in Hubbell. Robert worked at the C&H smelter in Hubbell until it closed in 1968. He then worked at Michigan Tech?s Co-Ed Hall until 1971. He also served in the US Army in World War II. He was married to Ella Mae Cadwell on May 11, 1946 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hubbell. She passed away in 1989. He was a life member of Copper Ingot VFW Post 4624 in Hubbell and a former commander. He was on the Hubbell Fire Department and was the Chief for 20 years. He was also a past president of the Copper Country Firemen?s Association and the U.P. Chief?s Association. He was a past Grand Knight of the Torch Lake Coucil Knights of Columbus 2713 and past faithful navigator of Monsignor A. J. Rezek Assembly of Knights of Columbus as well as an active member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church as Eucharistic Minister and Lecturer, and served on the parish council. He was well known for his cooking for various organizations and catering and especially known for his spaghetti sauce. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Paul. Surviving are a son, Mark of Ontonagon; three daughters, Bonnie (Dean) Thurston of Wayland, Mich., Roberta (James) Crouch of Lake Linden and Pat (Bob) Rule of Ontonagon; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, May 25 from 3 until 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden where the VFW will conduct a service at 7 P.M. The Knights of Columbus will conduct a service at 7:10 PM and there will be a parish prayer service at 8:30 P.M. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Wednesday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church with Fr. Wayne Marcotte to officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden.
