  [S5] Obituary. Betty L. Van Ness, 85, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2015 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital. She was born February 18, 1930 in Kingsford, MI, daughter of the late William and Emma (Niles) Dykstra. Betty graduated from Kingsford High School in 1948 and was a lifelong resident of the area. After graduation she attended the Milwaukee Vocational School for accounting. Betty married Earl Van Ness on August 19, 1967 at the First United Methodist Church in Iron Mountain. She was employed at Lakeshore, Inc. as an accountant for 27 years, retiring in 1991. While working at Lakeshore, Betty took classes through NMU and received her accounting degree in 1987. Betty was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Christians Women?s Club, the Business Women?s Club, A.A.U.W. and F.C.E. She enjoyed quilting, ceramics, gardening, cooking, traveling, and spending winters in AZ for 16 years. Betty is survived by two daughters, Jody Pauly of Littleton, CO and Gail (Gus) Glaser of Kingsford; a son, Randy (Linda) Van Ness of Oshkosh; granddaughters Lori (Daryl) Linnert, Lisa (Josh) Villringer and Emily Van Ness, a grandson Justin Van Ness; great grandchildren Noah, Lauren, Lily, Hayden and Kate; two sisters, Elaine Divine and Joanne (Steve) Cuggino; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl in 2009; three brothers, Edwin ?Buster?, Harold ?Bubby?, and Robert ?Dyke?; and five sisters, Dolores ?Lover? Quick, Margaret ?Honey? LaLonde, Wilma ?Toots? Rogers, Darlene ?Midge? Clash and Faye Dykstra. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Iron Mountain. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 noon at the church. Rev. Walter Reichle will officiate. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
