Thomas Maghini, 95, of Bristol, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at The Pines in Bristol. He is now reunited with his beloved wife of 66 years, the late Joyce (McCarthy) Maghini. Born on February 23, 1931, in Bristol, Tom was the son of the late Thomaso and Ermina (Dini) Maghini.
One of five brothers raised in a bustling, loving home, he remained a lifelong resident of the city he loved. A proud graduate of Bristol High School, Tom spent his career building literally and figuratively?working for Palmisano Construction, D?Amato Construction, and the City of Bristol Public Works. Through his work and his deep involvement with the Italian Social Club and the Older Members of the Bristol Boys and Girls Club, Tom didn?t just meet neighbors; he built a lifetime of ?old-school? friendships that spanned generations.
To say Tom loved his family would be an understatement; he lived for them. A ?road warrior? in the truest sense, he spent decades traversing the East Coast to be the loudest cheerleader in the stands. Whether it was football, baseball, soccer, basketball, cheerleading, or dance, if a grandchild was participating, Tom was there. When he wasn?t on the sidelines, he could be found: rooting for the New York Yankees and the UConn Huskies, heading out on treasured deep-sea fishing expeditions, and presiding over holiday celebrations, where his infectious smile and clever wit were the heart of every room. Tom was a man of quiet strength and immense grace who made everyone feel like an old friend from the moment they met him. His memory will be cherished by his sons and their families.
He leaves behind his sons Michael Maghini and his wife, Lori, of West Hartford, and Paul Maghini and his wife, Michele, of Bristol. He was the doting ?Grampy? and ?Biddee? to six grandchildren: Ryan Maghini and his wife Christine, Caroline and her husband Ryan O?Day, Brendan, Matthew, Taylor, and Hannah. He was also the proud great-grandfather to Madeline, Avery, Juliette, Addison, and Emmy. In addition, he leaves behind an ?extended crown? of many nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his brothers: Ermo, Julio, Emilio, and John Maghini.
Family and friends are invited to gather for calling hours on Tuesday, April 28, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. Services will continue Wednesday morning, April 29, at 9:00 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew Church, 120 Church Ave., Bristol. Tom will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol, with Marine Honors. In Tom?s honor, may we all remember his favorite lesson: that our relationships are the best part of life.
