She was a former librarian for the Little Fort Elementary School in Waukegan. She was a member of the Libertyville Women's Club and St. Joseph Church. Her late father was a former state senator in Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Cota in 2011, by her brother William Miron and her son William Cota.
