Vadney, Mary R.
PALM BAY, Fla. Mary R. Vadney, 93, formerly of Waterford, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Atlantic Shores Skilled Nursing Home in Melbourne, Fla. Born and educated in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Rohn Rettinger. She moved to Florida in January of 2020. Mary was employed for many years as a bookkeeper at the former National Furniture Co. in Cohoes. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford and a member of the Altar Society there and was also a member of Waterford Senior Citizens. She enjoyed doing crafts and making gifts for family members and friends. Mary was the widow of Ellsworth Vadney who died in 1998. She was the mother of Harry Vadney (Cheryl) of Palm Bay, Fla. and the late Richard Vadney. She was the mother-in-law of Donna Vadney of Troy; and sister of the late Lillian Wiesenforth, Viola Jeram, Harry and Delvin Rettinger, Tessie Gamache and Eleanor Rettinger. She was the proud grandmother of Sean H. Vadney and great-grandmother of Jacob E. and Sean G. Vadney, all of Palm Bay, Fla. Friends and relatives are invited to attend funeral services on Friday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 119 Broad St., Waterford. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterford. There will be no viewing hours. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Mary of the Assumption Church Restoration Fund, 119 Broad St., Waterford, NY, 12188.
