Died:
- J Remi Bouchard, 88, of Bowdoin, died Thursday October 2, 2014.
He was born to the late Edward and Rebecca (Coulombe) Bouchard, February 22, 1926, in Topsham, ME. Remi attended Lewiston and Boston schools and was active in football and hockey while there. He worked at Bath Iron Works as a Driller Helper then enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1944. He served his country in World War II as a waist gunner on a B-24, completing six missions. He married Theresa Gamache on June 21, 1947 and they lived together in Brunswick, ME before relocating to Bowdoin, ME in 1984.
Remi was a Civil Service Worker at Brunswick Naval Air Station until he retired in 1984. He was the Household Goods Inspector, moving navy personnel in and out of the station. He drove thousands of miles around New England inspecting moving companies and their handling of Naval personnel?s household goods. He was highly respected as an honest and fair man by the Navy and moving companies.
Remi was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Sekenger Council #1947. He loved to play golf, spend time with family and friends, take trips to Florida and Nevus, and cherished being Pépère (grandfather and great grandfather), sharing his talents, stories, and wisdom.
Remi was the oldest of seven children: Albert and Alberta (twins), Paul, Roland, and Lorette and Loretta (twins).
Remi is survived by his wife Theresa, of Bowdoin; his seven children: Daniel and wife Bonnie, of Scarborough; Joline and husband Joel O?Connor, of Bowdoin; Kenneth and wife Pierette, of Bowdoin; Janice and husband Daniel Staples, of Bowdoin; Susan and husband Marc Menard, of Durham; Andrew and wife Lisa, of Bowdoinham; and Sandra and husband Gordon MacPherson, of Sanford, FL. He was predeceased by a grandson, Kane Jackson O?Connor and is survived by fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to All Saints Parish, 132 McKeen St, Brunswick, ME 04011.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday October 10, 2014 at Saint John the Baptist Church, Pleasant St, Brunswick. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Pine St, Brunswick. A Celebration of Life luncheon will follow at Knights of Columbus Hall, 2 Columbus Drive, Brunswick.
