Regina Marie Crum (Stavinsky)
COLUMBIA
Regina Marie Crum (Stavinsky) of Columbia, CT passed away peacefully at her
home surrounded by family on January 1st. She was born on May 15, 1932 to Michael and Hazel Stavinsky (Tatro) in Willimantic, CT.
She married John Crum in 1953 and raised their family in the home they built in Columbia. The home in which her son and family still live. Regina was widowed at the age of 44 and remained so until her death.
As a child growing up with asthma, Gina was limited from being outside with other children. Being homebound she used her time wisely. She taught herself to knit, crochet, quilt, embroider and anything that involved needlework. Later in life she added painting, pottery, beaded jewelry, woodworking, the list goes on.
?A true artisan?. She used her talents to create many gifts for family and friends that will be passed down for generations to come. An avid reader and regular visitor to the Columbia Library there was always a book by her bedside before lights out. A lover of games and puzzles she eased through crosswords. Gina also had a great passion for bingo and hardly ever missed a game at the Beckish Center or a bus trip to the Casino to play her favorite slots. August was special for her. It was beach week at Misquamicut holding court under her umbrella surrounded by family.
She moved to Florida for 16 years, but returned because of her love for the New England seasons. Her final years were spent at Dartmouth Village where she made great friends. Her family would like to thank her best friend, Fran, who took great care of Regina, as well as her family until her final day. Gina left no words unsaid, because as we all know, she, ?Shot straight from the hip.?
She is predeceased by her son, John ?Jay? Crum III, her sister, Ann Marie DeGray and brother, Leslie Gamache.
She leaves behind her children, Cathy Crum, Christopher (Jeanne) Crum, and Jessica (Michael) Blem and the light of her life, her grandchildren, Jansen Crum, Cody Shea, Cassie, Molly and James Blem. She also leaves behind sisters, Cheryl Hines, Joyce Rinn and brothers, Ronald Stavinsky and Steven Gamache.
