MANCHESTER - Donald F. Desmarais, 84, died on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at the Catholic Medical Center, in Manchester. Mr. Desmarais was born on Dec. 29, 1928, in Manchester, the son of the late Joseph and Angeline (Boudreau) Desmarais. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. For 60 years, Mr. Desmarais was the owner and operator of Don's Auto Sales. Mr. Desmarais enjoyed spending time at Lake Winnipesaukee and traveled there many weekends throughout the years. Members of his family include his wife of 60 years, Doris (Hout) Desmarais, of Manchester; daughters, Donna Paulin and her late husband, Norman Paulin, of Pembroke, Diane Gamache, and her husband, Maurice, of Manchester; two granddaughters, Sarah and her husband Patrick Kelly, of Fort Drum, N.Y., Angela and her husband, Ramzi Al-Shawafi, of Concord; two grandsons, Keith Paulin and his wife Lisa Domensil, of Northfield, Richard Paulin and his fiancée Betty Anne Habegger of Hillsborough; 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to his family, Mr. Desmarais leaves many loyal customers who became his friends throughout his ownership of Don's Auto Sales. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Hervy and Armand Desmarais.
services: Calling hours will be held on Friday, Feb. 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 250 Coolidge Ave., in Manchester. Complimentary valet parking will be provided during the evening calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 23, 10 a.m. at Ste. Marie Church, 378 Notre Dame Ave., in Manchester. Committal prayers and encryptment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, in Manchester.
