Saturday, June 24, 2006 Ocala, Fla. - Lucille C. (Fortin Gamache) Smith, 71, formerly of Lisbon Falls, died Saturday, June 10, at Legacy House. She was born in Lisbon in 1934. Luci, as she was affectionately called by those that called her friend, was the youngest daughter of Odilon and Marguerite (Chouinard) Fortin. Educated in local schools, she graduated from Lisbon High School in 1952, and received her baccalaureate degree from the University of Maine in elementary education in 1976. An elementary school teacher for the Lisbon public school system for more than 20 years, she truly enjoyed her profession, was always an advocate for teachers and valued higher education. She moved to Florida with her husband, Weston, in 1994, and became very active in the Oak Run Community in which they lived. She was joyful and loved to laugh. She brought this infectious characteristic to the many groups in which she participated, including the ladies golfing league, a quilters group, the bocce league and mahjong groups. While retired, she traveled extensively and took much pleasure in seeing new places and meeting new people. Survivors include her husband of 16 years, Weston Smith of Ocala, Fla.; four children and their families, Michael Gamache and his fiance, Athena, of Lisbon Falls, James Gamache of South Portland, Mark Gamache, and his wife, Martha, of North Yarmouth; daughter, Mary Beth Gamache Daigneault, and her husband, William, of Newport, R.I.; stepdaughters, Carlyn Maddox and her husband, Dee, of Chicago and Lacey Wille and her husband, Kevin, of Ortonville, Mich.; sister and brother-in law, Leo and Theresa Tardiff, of Lewiston; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews
